Bush's Timber-Growing Company
Bush got a laugh when he scoffed at Kerry's contention that he had received $84 from "a timber company." Said Bush, "I own a timber company? That's news to me."
From factcheck.ORG (as opposed to factcheck.com):
"In fact, according to his 2003 financial disclosure form, Bush does own part interest in "LSTF, LLC", a limited-liability company organized "for the purpose of the production of trees for commercial sales." (See "supporting documents" at right.)
So Bush was wrong to suggest that he doesn't have ownership of a timber company. And Kerry was correct in saying that Bush's definition of "small business" is so broad that Bush himself would have qualified as a "small business" in 2001 by virtue of the $84 in business income."
Liar or Idiot?
Why lie? It can't really help you that much and quite obviously you WILL get caught and swiftly. So, logically, that leaves idiot. I suppose there is an arugment for just being too lazy to keep up on the details of your own business ventures. But, if this is the case, this is the man running our country (or is he? see reports of Bush being fed answers during the debate) with a total disregard for the complexity, details or truth of the job.

Wow, this is a remarkably stupid post. I love how people will even use a place like FACTCHECK.ORG to distort the facts. Bush is of course an idiot for not knowing that 84 dollars of his income came from a timber company. Of course, if you read the rest of the FACTCHECK article, you find out that the company which paid Bush the 84 dollars wasn't actually a timber company at the time. It was an oil and gas company. So, when you criticize sombody because of an article you've read, how about reading the entire article first to make sure you don't make yourself sound too much like an "idiot."
And also, if you're going to criticize Bush because of an article, maybe you shouldn't ignore the glaring mistakes Kerry made which happen to be revealed in that same article. Kerry thinks Bush has underfunded "No Child Left Behind." However, KERRY'S OWN CAMPAIGN provided FACTCHECK with information that funding has actually increased by 2.7 billion.
So there you go. Bush isn't aware that a company that once gave him 84 dollars is now a timber company while Kerry is completely ignoring the facts his campaign has gathered to attack Bush. It would seem that one of these crimes is worse than the other.
I won't go through the entire FACTCHECK article, but for those interested the address is-
http://www.factcheck.org
I would strongly recommend visiting it, and reading the entire article. You see, the folks at FACTCHECK aren't completely blinded by ignorant partisan propaganda; they realize that both sides make false claims, and they bring those falsities to light.
Gosh.. I cannot imagine WHY you would be upset I based my criticism on out of context quotes. Nor can I imagine why you would be upset with me for not holding one candidate to the same standard I hold the other. Where was your ranting when Bush released commercials using Kerry quote after Kerry quote...out of context? And where was your ranting when Bush claimed Kerry changed his positions countless times, but doesn't admit that he himself changes his position things like homeland security, WMD's, etc?
That aside, I wrote it because regardless of when he received $84, he still didn't know that he owned a timber company. The quote was not " i got $84 from a timber company?" it was "I own a timber company? that's news to me"
I chose one this particular fact from the article, (which i read entirely) not because it was inaccurate, but because I think it is yet another example (there are so many, but i have neither the time or obligation to hunt them ALL down) of Bush just behaving as if he has NO IDEA what's going on around him. I believe he is incompetent and lazy and it's dangerous for him also to be president.
